I’ve been in the city for over 3 decades and have lived in a number of the great SF neighborhoods. I currently live in the Outer Sunset, by Golden Gate Park where I raised my son who is now all grown up. I grew up in a military family and moved around quite a bit so don’t really have a home town to speak of. One of the places I enjoyed living most was Guam. For work I manage a 24-hour helpline for parents and caregivers in Alameda County and am a licensed MFT. I joined City Church 11 or 12 years ago shortly before the church became fully inclusive of our LGBTQIA+ siblings. Prior to City Church I was at a small church plant after having been out of church for a long time. I came back to church after I found myself feeling unmoored and like something was missing in my life. I want to be of service to our church community. The experience I have gained working with survivors, parents and children gave me the opportunity to accompany and support people through some of their worst moments. I’d like to bring what I learned from that experience to the work of being a deacon. I appreciate that the role of deacon is hands-on and encompasses aspects of spiritual, practical and community care.
