HOSPITALITY

Welcome Team

The Greeting Team consists of all the friendly faces that greet you outside and at the top of the stairs.

Time Commitment:  9:40am - 10:15am on Sunday AM

Skill Required: You are someone who loves saying hi and chatting with people.  Also, smiling is your favorite! :-)

Who: All Ages Serving Opportunity

Communion Team

All are invited to serve Communion at City Church.  You will sign up for a Sunday and come to the front of the auditorium when the Pastor leading Communion cues you.

Time Commitment:  Sundays During Worship

Skill Required: N/A

Correspondence Team

This Ministry Team reaches out to folks who visited City Church for the First Time and filled out a Connect Card.  

Time Commitment:  Varies With Amount Of Connect Cards

Skill Required: Ability to craft an email or handwritten note of welcome to City Church.

Who: Youth/Adult

Community Group/Meetup Leader

Do you like to gather people around a shared interest, place, identity, or conversation topic? Then consider hosting a group or meetup. You might gather people for bible study, for a conversation on a topic that interests you, around shared identities (i.e. “motherhood” or “LGBTQ+”) a thing you love to do (i.e. “hiking” or “cycling”), or a place you love to visit (i.e “Southern Pacific Brewery”)

Time Commitment:  Flexible

Skill Required: You like to gather people, are outgoing (or can pretend to be:), are skilled at communicating with a group and can bring hosting energy that makes sure everyone who is interested or shows up feels welcome and included.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

ProPresenter Team

The ProPresenter Team helps facilitate the worship experience for those worshiping at home, as well as in the Russian Center, by providing visuals for the songs, prayers, sermon quotes, etc

Time Commitment:  9am - end of Worship service.

Skill Required: Be able to use a mouse and click on boxes.

Who: Youth/Adult

LiveStream Team

The Livestream Team helps facilitate meaningful connection and be a welcoming presence in the chat each Sunday or at other Live-Streamed events.

Time Commitment:  Duration of Worship or Event

Skill Required: Ability to type in the chat and respond to comments or ask prompts for engagement!

Who: Youth/Adult

Worship Team

Singing and/or playing in our Sunday Worship band.

Time Commitment:  Sundays from 8:30am - 12:30pm, plus at-home preparation of the music; approx once per month.

Skill Required: Audition required. Music reading is required, sight-reading and improvisational skills are helpful. Willingness & ability to receive feedback and direction in rehearsal.

City Church Choir

If you love to sing Christmas Carols and in harmony with others, we invite you to sing in the Choir this year. The choir joins the Sunday band at special Sunday services.

Time Commitment:  Approximately 1 rehearsal a week for 3 weeks. Dec 11th Lessons and Carols Sunday is the next performance.

Skill Required: Ability to read music is helpful but learning by ear is also popular in the group.

Scripture Reader

Preparing and reading the Scripture passage for Sunday worship and special services.

Time Commitment: Sundays from 10am - 12:30pm, plus prior preparation of the passage; approximately once every 6 weeks.

Skill Required: You’re comfortable with public speaking.  You have time and willingness to prepare well.  A willingness and ability to receive occasional feedback and constructive criticism regarding the reading. An understanding that City Church’s reading style is proclamation/speaking, as opposed to dramatic/acting.

Setup/Teardown Team

This team works alongside RJ Hardy to help ensure that all our Russian Center worshiping spaces; Auditorium, Children’s Ministry Rooms, etc are set and prepared for everyone to arrive.  This team also helps Set Up and Tear Down at various weekly events as needed, as well as prepares decorations for special services (Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Easter, etc)

Time Commitment:  Sundays from 7am - 12:30pm.  The Midweek time commitment varies based on event.

Skill Required: Light lifting, most items are on wheels.

FAMILY MINISTRIES

Children’s Ministry

The Children’s Ministry team of volunteers helps support classrooms of children, birth through 5th grade at Children’s Ministry events. They story-tell, listen, pray and worship alongside children in Children’s Worship on Sunday mornings. 

Time Commitment:  Weekly, monthly, and infrequent opportunities. 

Skill Required: Listening ears, and being ok missing sermon for Sunday morning volunteering.

Youth Ministry

Youth leaders invest in the lives of our middle school & high school students and their spiritual development. This can take many forms, whether mentorship, small group leading, planning events & community-building activities, or leading spiritual practices in music, prayer, storytelling. 

Time Commitment:  Weekly, bi-weekly, once a month. Average weekly commitment level every week is 3-4 hours minimum. 

Who we are looking for: Someone who is…Available: You are committed to being faithfully present at our gatherings each week. Relationally gifted. This does not mean you are necessarily an extrovert or young or can speak Gen Z slang! This does mean you have a high capacity for building strong, healthy relationships with young people. Being around teens is not a draining experience but something that brings you joy. Spiritually grounded. You sincerely care about being formed in the Way of Jesus, which is evidenced in your life.

CHURCH MANAGEMENT

Communications Team

This team works with Jason Morrell and Steven Starfas on various projects.  Examples would include series artwork, testimony videos, blog posts, etc.

Time Commitment:  Varies based on project.

Skill Required: Video Editors, Photographers, Writers, Designers…oh my!  What are we missing? Let us know how you want to serve.

Event Planning and Coordination

This team helps us plan events, meetups, etc!

Time Commitment:  Varies based on event.

Skill Required: Love thinking through logistics and creating welcoming spaces for all who attend City Church.

HELP + CARE

Deacon Ministry

Deacons at City Church serve the church behind the scenes, confidentially helping our people in crisis periods of their lives. Deacons serve the social, emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual needs of the congregation. They provide financial assistance for rent, food, counseling and medical assistance, utilities, and other expenses. Much of their time is spent in prayer with and for their clients, building relationships with them, encouraging and counseling them with budget and basic life skills.

Time Commitment:  3 year commitment ~ 4-5 hours a month

Skill Required: Relationally oriented, compassionate, empathetic, good listener, and willing to walk alongside people who are going through a difficult time.

Meals Ministry

Our Meals Ministry is organized by Linda Feagles.  By signing up for the Meals Ministry you are committing to provide food and/or gift cards for those within our Community at their time of need.

Time Commitment:  The time it takes to either cook a meal or order gift card/meal delivery.

Skill Required: Cooking or purchasing a Gift Card/Meal Delivery. (Typically there are a total of 9 meals over 3 weeks shared by all who sign up to provide a meal)
