Service Sunday: February 1

We believe that church can be a space of shared learning and practice for courageous participation in God's work of transformative love throughout our region. One way we practice this is by spending some Sundays learning from and volunteering with organizations who are doing good work in local communities.

This Service Sunday, we'll participate in service projects that focus on decreasing isolation and on connecting vulnerable neighbors to community resources.

Please note: We will have no worship service at the Russian Center on this date. Instead, please sign up to join one of the following three service projects:

BEATLES CHOIR
Address: 375 Laguna Honda Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94116
Time: 9:30am - 12:00pm

Beatles Choir is led by our worship team member Christie Chew and brightens the day of residents and staff of Laguna Honda Hospital through the easily recognizable & multi-generational songs of the Beatles. Laguna Honda is a long-term, skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, committed to serving the elderly or indigent populations of San Francisco.

Anyone (age 6 and up) can sing with the Beatles Choir - no musical talent needed! Per Laguna Honda's visitor policy, all participants, including children, will be asked to wear a mask and to stay with the group during the visit.

CITY HOPE POP-UP CAFE
Address: 45 Olive St, San Francisco, CA
Time: 11:30am - 2:15pm

REGISTRATION IS AT CAPACITY

Help prepare and serve lunch for our neighbors in the City Hope Cafe! Many of those coming into City Hope's Cafe space are neighbors in the Tenderloin finding respite in the morning: the unhoused, those without a living space, and those who desire community. Your roles will range from waiting and bussing tables to expediting coffee and meal items.

Dress Code: Please keep long hair tied up. Wear closed-toed shoes. No tank tops.

Age Range: Ages 13 and up can sign up for their own volunteer slot. Ages 9-12 must be with an adult who is also part of the volunteer group and would sign up for the same slot as their accompanying adult. However, if a 12 year old has volunteered with us several times and feels comfortable on their own, they can have their own slot. We typically leave that up to the parent's discretion.
