CONFESSION INVITATION
Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16, CEB
“You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.”
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Many: Loving God, we admit that often we tuck our faith into our pockets, hiding in a place of comfort rather than publicly trying to live out the Way of Jesus. We are so afraid of offending others or embarrassing ourselves that we have established rules: no faith at the dinner table, no faith in politics, no faith with strangers. Forgive us for whispering when we could be singing. Forgive us for staying quiet when we could be part of rewriting the narrative. We want to be brave. Give us the boldness of Mary, to commit brazen acts of beauty, resistance, and love. Amen.Hear us now as we share our honest confessions in silence…
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
1 John 4 reminds us that “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear;
We love because God first loved us.”
One: Even in our silence,
Many: God loves us.
One: Even in our fear or shame,
Many: God chooses us.
One: Even when we sin,
Many: God wraps us in grace.
One: This is the Good News!
Many: Thanks be to God!
PASSING THE PEACE
One: The peace of Christ be with you all.
Many: And also with you.

BLESSING OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
One: People of God, what is our prayer for these children and youth?
Many: May the Lord be with you.
Children and Youth: And also with you.
One: Children and Youth, may you come to recognize the unique tones and vibrations of the Holy Spirit in your body. May you have trials enough to prove her wisdom trustworthy and make her voice the louder in you. May you gobble down all the food she has to offer at her table.
All: Thanks be to God!

COMMUNION
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - Apostles Creed
All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
GREAT THANKSGIVING
One: The Lord be with you.
Many: And also with you.
One: Lift up your hearts!
Many: We lift them up to the Lord!
One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
Many: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
