Thomas Igeme has been part of City Church for more than a decade. He grew up in Nairobi and moved to the United States at 18, and as a queer, Black immigrant, he has experienced the Bay Area as a place of challenge, growth, healing, and home. Professionally, Thomas runs a leadership strategy consulting firm, where much of his work focuses on helping people and organizations build more honest, inclusive, and human ways of being together. Thomas first came to City Church because it was a place where he could bring friends and trust that they would be welcomed with dignity and care. Over the years, his love for the church has deepened as City Church has continued to become a community where people can bring more of their full selves before God and one another. After serving on the Elder Board from 2023–2026, Thomas is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the community in a more directly practical and pastoral way through the Deacon Board. He is especially drawn to the deacon role because of its embodied expression of the gospel: showing up, noticing needs, offering care, and helping people know they are not alone. Thomas hopes to bring a spirit of compassion, hospitality, steadiness, and deep belonging to this work.
