Daily Reflection
Lent is the season of the year in which the Church intentionally focuses on self-examination and spiritual renewal in anticipation of Easter. During this season of 40 days, we turn our attention to the sin in our own lives and the brokenness in the world. As we do so, what becomes highlighted is the need for a Savior. Lent concludes with the celebration of Jesus' resurrection at Easter, in which God himself inaugurates the redemption of all that has gone wrong in our lives and the world. In this passage, Jesus is warning a group of religious leaders who believe to be in great standing with God, because of their heritage. They believe this makes them spiritually healthy. Jesus clearly states, this does not. Jesus makes it very clear that they only way to good standing with God will be through him. What do you look to to tell yourself you are right with God? Pray that during this Lenten season you will find your standing in the grace of God offered through Jesus Christ.
