Throughout this month we have been trying new experiences, hearing new stories, and asking how we might begin again in 2023. We’ll close out our series by considering the question of how to pursue a future that is informed (but not bound) by our past through the Ghanaian concept of Sankofa. Join us this Sunday as we receive God’s invitation for us to see the new thing that is springing forth among us and move toward that future together.
Speaking of the future, this Friday we will be sponsoring the Faith + Justice Network’s “Future of Faith” Conference. The conference is bringing together Christian leaders, artists, and activists to explore the Five Shifts for the Future of Faith. While the conference is Sold Out (woo!) you can purchase a ticket to stream the conference HERE! Pastors Emily, Peter, Barbara and Joshua will all be leading and sharing throughout the conference. We’ll also have guests joining us for worship on Sunday, so be sure to say “hello” to any unfamiliar faces.
Staffing Update: Karl Digerness
As we shared last week, Karl’s final Sunday will be April 30th, 2023. Between now and then, be sure to share some of your favorite photos and memories of Karl on this Kudoboard. Karl sat down with Emily to speak more to the decision and how we can be praying and supporting him during this period of transition!

New Class: Elements of Faith, begins February 5th
At City Church we understand that how we believe is just as important as what we believe. Whether you are new or returning to City Church, Christianity, or just want to revisit central elements of the faith, join this 6 week group experience. Each week we will discuss a topic; Grace, Salvation, Sin and Transformation, Justice, Spiritual Practices, and Community and then talk about how that topic intersects with our lived experiences. Along the way, you’ll also learn about City Church and how these topics shape our various ministries. Registration Requested: Lunch and childcare will be provided!
LOOKING BACK
Service + Fellowship Sunday!
This past Sunday morning over 100 City Churchers joined together to take church into the streets through service around the city, in partnership with organizations and businesses. With Manny’s in the Mission and Manita’s Cafe in West NOPA, we picked up over 100 bags of trash. At our offices in Outer Richmond, we packed hygiene kits and baked cookies for our friends at City Hope SF, collected new and gently used clothes for St. Anthony’s, made cards for seniors who are served by Meals on Wheels SF and finally we made cards and cookies for neighbors living at St. Peter's Place in the Outer Richmond. Thanks to all who made it such a great Sunday service! You can see a few photos on Instagram.
