You Can Begin Again in 2023

Happy 2023, City Church! It was great to see so many of you at our Christmas EveChristmas Day and New Year’s Day gatherings. We hope that you found moments for rest and connection during the holiday season. As we return, it’s important to pause and recognize that the changing calendar offers a chance for us to reflect on how we want to show up for ourselves and others; setting intentions and considering our personal and communal habits, desires, and rhythms. So we invite you into this season of possibility, to journey with us toward becoming a community that is intellectually curious, theologically honest, and prophetically joyful!

This Sunday we will launch a new sermon series entitled, “Begin Again: How To Change Your _____.” All of us feel stuck from time to time; unable to envision new pathways for ourselves amidst the algorithms that clamor for our attention, obligations that keep us tethered, and anxieties which narrow our imaginations for what is possible. Some seasons, it is enough to just have made it through the day. And yet, as Christians, God calls us to a more intentional way of living shaped by imagination, courage, joy, and co-creativity. As we begin a new year, let us begin again, pursuing the truth that God created us on purpose, for a purpose. Together, we will explore our answer to the question that poet Mary Oliver invites us toward: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” For this series we have created a playlist where we can share the soundtrack of our communal wild and precious lives! Check it out here and submit a song to be included here.

Throughout the month of January we have new and familiar happenings. You can see the list below and register by clicking the image. We will see you Sunday at 10am PST as we BEGIN AGAIN!
