Over the years, I’ve found that the enjoyment of a meal is determined less by the fanciness of the table setting than it is by the quality of the people it is shared with. When Jesus welcomed a woman’s gifts of tears and love at a dinner party, he found himself quietly criticized by his host. It would be easy to have let that criticism sour the evening but instead, he did what he often did: he told a story about God’s abundant grace in the face of our deep need. This Sunday, we will continue to gather around God’s table as part of our AAPI Heritage month series, hearing a word from the REVEREND Joshua Jalandoon and worship led by special guests Aisea Taimini and Minor Islands, with a shared meal to follow. Be sure to sign up to bring an ingredient for our crowd-sourced meal of rice porridge (aka, congee) so that we have what we need to enjoy our Third Sunday Fellowship together. Can’t make it across the Bay to Breakers street closures? Join Jason Morrell and company for some fun and outreach in The Panhandle.
Faithfully,
Emily
