Petting Zoo in the Gold Room? Oh My!

This summer, City Church children are heading into the WILDERNESS. We will tell stories of stars and tents, of being lost and taking long wandering journeys. In these stories we will find the God Who Sees Us, the God Who Provides for Us, the God Who Travels With Us. And we are kicking off our WILDERNESS summer with City Camp 2023! We’re bringing the tents and the fire pits inside the Russian Center for a one-day summer camp blowout on Saturday, June 3rd. Children ages 3.5 through Kindergarten will camp with us from 9 to noon; children in grades 1 through 5 will camp from 9 to 5pm. Together we will hear fireside Bible stories under the stars, play water wars at the park, and cuddle some furry friends at a petting zoo in the Gold Room. Youth volunteers are encouraged to join the fun as Junior Wilderness Guides.

And I am looking for adults to lead some fun camp activities. Wanna help run a cupcake wars? Or teach sewing? I’d love to find adults or Youth for: basketball, minute-to-win-it games, camp counselors, painters, sewers, crafters, cooks, survival skills, science experiments, woodworking, and whatever else you can do well! Reach out to me, barbara@citychurchsf.org and we’ll get you onboarded for this event.

Invite a young friend or neighbor to register. Volunteer with a friend! And thank you for praying for a fun and safe City Camp 2023. My hope for camp is that it would become an anticipated (FUN) intergenerational touchpoint each year for our church to celebrate a year well-lived together before going on our summer travels.

Queer Theology Study Group Part 2 - begins TOMORROW
Our LGBTQ Community Group will be hosting a 5-week discussion group for LGBTQIA+ and questioning folks on the subject of queer theology. Becoming affirming can be one part of the theological journey, but what comes next? What does it mean to be queer and how can that strengthen our faith? How might we view Christianity and the stories of the Bible through a queer lens? Dinners will be provided. Please register here as space is limited!

Grief and Loss Support Group, begins on May 1st
Grief is a natural response to great loss and it's okay to feel it. It's a messy and non-linear journey, but you don't have to navigate it alone. Join this new 8-week ONLINE group to cultivate a safe space where you can be yourself and explore your feelings without judgment or expectations. Together we'll shift the focus from fixing grief to tending to our experiences together. You can learn more about what you can expect in this group and register here.
