So many of us have been shaped by a world whose engine is competition, it can be difficult to imagine that there is nothing we need to do or prove in order to be worthy. And yet, this is the assurance that we find in God’s promises; that God’s loving us and liking us has nothing to do with our effort and everything to do with God’s radical acceptance and infinite love. For Christians, this love is made available to us through the person of Jesus, whose belovedness served as the foundation upon which his life, death, and resurrection was realized. What would you do, how would you live, if your starting place was belovedness? Jesus, the bread of life, feeds us and equips us to begin from this place too. We, the body of Christ, are taken, blessed, broken, and given so that through our lives, all the world might know, too, that it is beloved.
