The Tenderloin
experiencing homelessness and poverty by seating them for a restaurant-style meal, greeting everyone by name, and creating the dignity of choice with a menu. As a volunteer, your tasks may include waiting on and bussing tables, expediting meals, and plating food. You will at some point during the program have the privilege to sit, eat, and talk with guests. It's a fun, energizing, and always interesting experience!
Open to children ages 9 and up, and ages 9-12 must be accompanied by an adult who is also volunteering.
The Beatles Choir

Beautify the Block: Street Cleaning with City Hope
Saturday, April 25 | 11:00am - 12:30pm
The Tenderloin
Join City Hope in extending radical hospitality beyond their walls by beautifying the streets of the Tenderloin! In partnership with SF Public Works, City Hope is adopting the Ellis and Olive block as our area to clean and maintain. Each month we will join together to clean the streets in an effort to show our neighbors that we care about keeping our streets clean just as much as keeping our guests fed. Volunteers must arrive in time for orientation and wear closed-toe shoes. All equipment will be provided.

City Hope Grocery Delivery
Tuesday Mornings, 10 - 11:30 AM
The Tenderloin
City Church member Bethany Gaudet leads this grocery delivery program, which is a partnership between SF Marin Food Bank and City Hope. Each Tuesday the Food Bank delivers boxes of food to City Hope. Volunteers sort, bag and deliver bags of groceries to people living in the Tenderloin who have mobility issues or who are homebound. Volunteers can serve once or on a regular basis. If you’d like to join in and help bag (or even deliver) groceries, sign up through the City Hope website:

Immigration Court Vigil
Weekly: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays | 2 hr shifts
Downtown SF or Concord
Led by the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity (IM4HI), Immigration Court Vigils provide presence, support, and community outside of the SF and Concord immigration courthouses. You'd be joining a small group of volunteers who offer hot coffee, snacks, prayer, and rapid response cards to folks waiting in long outdoor lines for their appointments. On rainy days, we seek to offer the shelter of an umbrella or poncho as well. Volunteers sign up for a 2-hour shift on the day and site of their choosing.
Learn more and sign up here.
These vigils are part of the Public Witness Team's Invitation to Action. In addition to these vigils, we invite you to pray, practice awareness, and speak to a member of the Public Witness Team if you're interested in taking further action on immigration.

Faith + Justice Network
Online Resource
This online platform presents material from the Faith & Justice Network, a theological learning community that puts contemporary questions and theological voices in conversation with the issues, places, and concerns of today. (And which also has City Church roots!) While this online platform is a great resource for self-study, it also provides forums through which to connect and share with other learners across the United States. Through our ongoing partnership with the Faith & Justice Network, City Churchers can join this platform at no cost: SIGN UP HERE.
Accessibility:
If there are barriers or limitations that keep you from being able to participate in volunteering opportunities, let me know! While accessibility is somewhat determined by the organizations we partner with, I would love to know what access needs exist within our community so I can keep an eye out for appropriate volunteer projects.
Thanks for your time and interest, and I hope to see you at one of these events! Please send any questions to me at amelia@citychurchsf.org.
