November Sermon Series

In a world full of non-profits and civic groups, what does it mean to be a church? When Jesus set out to begin his ministry, the first thing he did was not buy a building but, rather, gathered people together–people who came from diverse backgrounds, political views, temperaments, and giftedness–around a common vision: that the way things were are not the way they must always be. Together, these unlikely disciples became friends, partners, and co-conspirators in this message and vision, bringing the gifts they had to help us begin to see what it meant to be something wholly different: a community of healing, belonging, transformation, and courage. In both their giving and their receiving of these gifts, a community was formed among them, and the world around them was changed.
