Mission Immersion Trip

About The Trip
We’re so excited to announce our upcoming Mission Immersion Trip with Youth Mission Co is a week of hands-on service, spiritual growth, and learning how faith and justice meet in real life. Students will step outside of their usual context and experience how God is moving in the city of Memphis through local organizations doing meaningful work in their communities. From disaster relief to food insecurity, we’ll join in their efforts and reflect together on what it means to live out our faith in the world. Don’t miss this chance to grow deeper in faith, build real connections, and experience God’s love in action!

What To Expect
On this trip, students will engage with a variety of ministries and agencies in the greater Memphis area (see here). You’ll experience how these organizations work together to meet the needs of the community and get to contribute to that work. Some service projects will be physical — like cleaning, landscaping, or sorting donations — while others will be more relational, such as leading games for kids in subsidized housing neighborhoods or providing hospitality at local homeless ministries. Limited Capacity
Signing up does NOT confirm your spot on the trip. It indicates that you’re committing to fundraising for this trip and that you’re available to attend. Since space is limited to 16 spots (students + adults), we’ll be prioritizing by grade — seniors first, followed by juniors, sophomores, freshmen, and then middle schoolers.

Sample Itinerary

Monday–Wednesday: Serve & Reflect

  • Two volunteer shifts per day (morning + afternoon)
  • Up to six different worksites, including one with the Lynching Sites Project of Memphis, which honors the stories of those lost to racial violence through education and memorials
  • Evening debriefs led by MYM staff for group reflection, Bible study, and activities exploring justice and equity

Thursday: Learn & Explore

  • Morning visit to the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel (Dr. King’s assassination site)
  • Afternoon & evening: Free time for sightseeing and exploring Memphis

Growing in Faith & Reflection
This trip is more than just service. This week-long experience invites students to encounter how God is at work in the world — especially in places shaped by struggle, resilience, and justice. Through daily debriefs with Bible study, group discussions, and creative projects, you’ll reflect on where you saw God each day and how Scripture connects to your experiences. Toward the end of the trip, we’ll explore how what you’ve experienced in Memphis relates to your life at home and create a plan for making a difference in your own community.

Fundraising Commitment
We want to make this trip accessible to everyone, so we’ll be raising funds together as a group. This may include all-church fundraisers like a student auction, bake sales, and other creative efforts. We’ll support you every step of the way!
