POSITION OVERVIEW

The Marketing & Media Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and implementing strategies for effective and compelling communication TO the church (internal), as well as ABOUT the church (external).


The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess strong organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Participate in the life of the church and be enthusiastic about the vision and culture of City Church as a Jesus-loving community that embraces values of gospel-shaped inclusion, social justice, authenticity, and a love for San Francisco.
  • Live in the city of San Francisco


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SUNDAY WORSHIP

  • Manage and facilitate back-of-house operation (streaming, service slides)
  • After worship: Video editing of sermon and/or Clips to post on social media outlets and other relevant networks
  • Ensure that QR codes, signage, and other relevant engagement materials are correct, on-brand, and easy to use.
  • Strategic guidance for what is said at Words of Welcome


MARKETING

  • CONGREGATION / COMMUNITY

    Works with the Director of Operations to carry out communications strategies in a timely, relevant, and compelling manner:

    • Create and send weekly email newsletter
    • Developing and driving the overall “voice” for telling the stories of City Church mission, values, and practices of gospel-shaped inclusion, social justice, authenticity, and love for San Francisco in a compelling, joyful, and relevant way.
    • Ideate and extend consistent and compelling invitations to the community of City Church in a way that informs and cultivates awareness 
    • Collaborate with Director of Operations and for the development of comms processes and flow, design, language, ideation, creative direction and execution of relevant materials (narrative budget, pledge cards, etc)


  • CITY / OUTREACH MARKETING 
    • Maintain and execute social media schedule
    • Identifying, developing, and spearheading unique opportunities and experiments for outreach and marketing to key communities/demographics
    • Increasing awareness: Ideating and executing to extend consistent and compelling invitations to the community/city of San Francisco in a way that cultivates awareness of City Church through strategic broad-level outreach
    • Working with relevant partners and ministry leaders for spearheading strategic coordination of yearly Pride outreach

  • DIGITAL MARKETING
    • Social Media: Maintain content creation for social media engagement in a platform-relevant way (ie, Sermon Podcast/Clips for REELS, postcard announcements)
    • Strategize and execute initiatives of online content: community events, topics of teaching and learning, opportunities for service and justice
    • Strategize and execute initiatives of online content that will grow our impact for those curious about faith and seeking answers, connection, and engagement around issues and questions that are relevant to our mission

  • WEBSITE and APP: 
    • Maintain updated and relevant content on website and app
    • Working with Director of Ops, Strategize of ways to effectively maximize app capabilities for congregational use
    • Working with Director of Ops, Spearhead the redesign of the website for effective communication and engagement with key audiences

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in marketing/communications
  • Experience maintaining websites and digital communications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills

    High attention to detail

  • Design sensibilities that reflect an understanding of visual communication

  • Experience developing and executing marketing projects that reflect nuanced understanding of the target audience

  • Collaborative working style

  • Competency with relevant platforms

  • Experience with media development for promotional and special projects (ie, videos, podcasts)

Expectations

  • Work 20 hrs per week, in office for Monday staff meeting, as well as Tuesday and Thursday all-staff in-office days
