A Place to Be
Space and place are not just a set of coordinates; they shape our identity, belonging and, ultimately, our sense of call for participating in God’s work in the world. If those old maps in the back of the Bible remind us of anything, it’s that the story of God’s people and Jesus’ ministry took place in specific places, at specific times. That Jesus was born amidst political relocation, spent his early childhood in Egypt, claimed Galilee as his hood, began his ministry in the wilderness and carried it out along the region of Palestine are not just interesting facts; they say something about the places that formed him and how he formed them back. Throughout the season of Lent, we will engage in a spiritual practice of walking through the spaces and neighborhoods of San Francisco, to reflect on how they shape us for God’s purposes. Join us as we follow Jesus through his ministry journey to become who he was so that we might live into who God created us to be.
