God Gives us Each Other's Faith to Encourage Us

Daily Reflection

We often talk about our faith as God's gift to us. Have you ever considered that God's gift of faith to you, is also a gift to others as well? The Apostle Paul writes that he longs to see the Roman Christians so that "we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine." Your effort during Lent to reflect on your own walk with Christ has community implications. You are deepening a faith that will not only benefit you, but be a gift to others as well.  The multitude of decisions we make each day to move either toward Jesus or away from him impacts the lives of others. Paul is saying in no uncertain terms that he cannot conceive of a walk of faith in Christ without feeding off the faith of other Christians. For this reason and others we give ourselves to "a holy Lent," our brothers and sisters in Christ need our faith, and we need theirs! Pray that God will deepen your faith, not only as a gift to you, but to those around you who need the nourishment that your faith can provide.
