Entering God’s Story
City Church is a community that invites children to develop their own ongoing and authentic relationship with Jesus. We want to remember together what it is like to be a child: to wonder, to doubt, to hope, and to grow in faith. We especially want to lead children into experiencing God through the narrative of Scripture and the rhythms of liturgy in order to discover their place in God’s grand story.
Belonging
The Christian life cannot be lived alone. We belong to each other, and we strive to live like family by praying for, listening to, and serving one another. Because we belong to one another, we work together to create a safe, welcoming space for all children and families: for children familiar with church and its rhythms as well as those for whom it is new.
Serving
We are not a church just for ourselves. Just as Christ inhabits us and renews us, we long to see renewal in the city and world around us. We participate in this renewal joyfully by helping children find their gifts and put them to use in their church, schools, and neighborhood. We offer monthly opportunities to serve inside and outside City Church.
Partnering
We seek to be a resource to help parents flourish in urban family living. We are committed to providing resources and materials to empower parents and guardians at all stages to be the primary spiritual caregivers in their homes.
Strengthening Intergenerational Relationships
We want our children involved in the church community as a whole: watching, meeting, and connecting with people of all ages and stages of life. We work together to help our children form safe, trusted relationships with a significant number of adults, so they can be shaped and changed by the lives of other people in our congregation.
