Dr. Don St. Louis

Psychotherapist

Dr. Don St. Louis is a licensed psychotherapist (MFT31106) in Santa Clara, California, and works serves clients recovering from childhood trauma and abuse, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety, sexuality issues, and addictions. 

A Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Don studied with Patrick Carnes, widely regarded as the foremost expert in the field of sexual recovery. He also trained with Pia Mellody of The Meadows, and uses her trauma resolution and shame reduction model with abuse survivors. Additionally, he incorporates an Internal Family Systems perspective, helping clients experience their lives more richly and deeply, and enjoy more rewarding and intimate relationships with others.

A long-term faculty member at Santa Clara University, Don held a joint appointment to two graduate programs: in the Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries, he focused on the integration of spirituality and psychology, and taught courses on ministerial formation; in the Graduate Program in Counseling Psychology, he specialized in the ethical dimensions of clinical practice, and  taught developmental psychology. He was also the architect of the LGBTQ+ Emphasis in SCU’s Counseling Psychology Program.

Don earned his M.Div. from Loyola University of Chicago, his MA in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and his D.Min. from the Catholic University of America.
