Covid Memorial

Dear Friends,

Sunday, March 14th marks one year of meeting together virtually to worship. Our collective experience of wandering through the Covid wilderness has taken much longer than we initially anticipated. Through this journey we have experienced an array of terrain we didn’t foresee. We have lost close friends and loved ones. We have missed the warm presence, needed handshake, and hug from a close friend or community group. Truth be told, we have found the end of ourselves and experienced loneliness, anger, hopelessness and a plethora of other emotions that we often were able to suppress or ignore. One of the ways we honor our humanity, dignity, and the loss we have experienced is through lament. Jesus tells us, “Blessed are those who mourn.” Blessed are those who take the pain they are experiencing and bring it out into the open for God and others to see and witness. This act of vulnerability and honest expression is exactly where God meets us and often begins or continues the healing process.

On Sunday, March 14th we are going to take time during the service to lament together. We want to remember those we love that have passed during the pandemic. If you have someone in mind that you would like to honor, please follow this link and send us their name and a photo (if possible). The deadline for submitting their name and photo is March 11th. While we are still in this wilderness, we know that we are not alone. God is with us. When we bring our pain to God and express all we need to express, God meets us and heals us in due time.
