Daily Reflection
Faith would be easier if spiritual truths were a little more obvious. The Bible has so many passages that are not easily understood. This one is of no exception. Jesus compares himself to the manna given to the Hebrews in the wilderness. He goes further and claims that the manna was imperfect and the people still hungry and died natural deaths. Jesus claims to be the living manna that brings eternal life. In other words, Jesus is God's provision for us just as the manna was for those in the wilderness. Though, we have more information available to us than the original audience it doesn't make the message any easier to accept. Salvation found in him contradicts our idea of what we need. Jesus' grace and mercy are made available apart from our efforts. In what area of your life do you struggle receiving his grace?
