An Inviting Culture

When I wake up each morning, I think about two groups of people: 1) Who is not in the room on Sunday, and how do we get them there? and 2) Who is in the room on Sunday, and how do we help them enter more deeply into the church community? To these ends, I've been impressed by the culture of inviting friends that is continuing to develop at City Church, and I hope to see more and more of us bringing our friends, colleagues and neighbors!

A couple Sundays ago, one of my neighbors, who had not been to church in a long time came with their children because I invited her as we played a game of family vs. family volleyball in their backyard. I love seeing people who live in the Mission able to reconnect with God in church because City Church has moved toward them! Our next steps are to continue inviting everyone we know, and seeking to be as welcoming as we can every Sunday. This Sunday, whether you attend City Church on Sutter St or 23rd St, make it a goal to welcome at least one new person!
