Emily opened our Elder Board meeting this month by encouraging us to reflect on Howard Thurman’s poem, “O God, I Need Thee”. These verses are a timely reflection for the liminal space of Lent. Find some time to sit with them this week! From here we continued to flesh out our vision of a church following Jesus with our head, heart, and hands, with an eye towards establishing continuity between the places we’ve been and the places we’re going. We read through your (many!) responses to the questions of “Why Church?” and” Why City Church?,” identifying the importance of a sense of inclusive community that grows in faith. Weekly donuts also got more than a few shoutouts. As we seek to carry the mission and vision of our community forward, we discussed staffing needs and scoped out our plan for hiring teams. Thanks to everyone who applied for these! We’re looking forward to putting them together in the coming month.
Cheers,
Elliot Rossomme
